Our Church

As a Church of England school, our ethos is based on strong Christian principles. R.E. and worship within the school are high quality experiences which allow the children to explore and develop their faith and spirituality, whilst celebrating the diversity and common elements of other faiths.

We enjoy close links with St Nicholas Church and the parishioners are very active members of our school community. Classes regularly visit the church and members of the church support the teaching of RE in school. Together we try to build strong relationships between church and school.

The children also experience a whole school visit to the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool where they participated in a variety of extremely enjoyable activities, increasing their knowledge and understanding of the church. The wider community and families are always invited to join our whole school services which are held to celebrate harvest, Christmas, Easter and the end of the school year.

We are proud that the children at our school are caring individuals who are always eager to make a difference to their world by responding to our work for local, national and international charities. They have raised funds to provide goats for families in Africa, supported Water Aid and supported villagers in Sierra Leone to build a bakery. In this way, children develop into global citizens who understand the needs of others.

A Message from the Vicar of St Nicholas Church

At St Nic’s we are delighted to be your church and proud to have you as our school. It is so good to come together in worship, faith and learning and to share our celebrations and milestones. School and church; family together with our loving God.

You are all welcome to all that we do from church; especially Church@School (3rd Wednesday of each term-time month, 5.45pm in school) and our all-age services (3rd Sunday of every month, 10.30am in church).

God bless you.

Beth

Our Wider Community

We work with local groups, churches and charities throughout the year, and our choir performs in the community at Christmas and Easter.

Collective Worship

As a Church of England school, Christian worship is at the heart of daily life at St Nicholas. Collective worship takes place every day — in class, in key stages and together as a whole school — and reflects the beliefs and traditions of the Church of England, while warmly welcoming children of all faiths and none.

Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from collective worship, in whole or in part. If you would like to talk this through, or make arrangements, please contact the school office to speak with the Headteacher. Any child who is withdrawn will be fully supervised and cared for during that time.

We are always glad to answer any questions you may have about the Christian life of our school.
